Frequently Asked Questions

What does it feel like?

Imagine mini Jacuzzi jets gently massaging your skin. Some people find it ticklish at first, but this soon passes allowing a relaxing and invigorating experience.

Does it hurt?

Absolutely not! The Garra Rufa fish don't have any teeth so they gently nibble and suck away the dead skin cells promoting growth of healthy new skin.

Do I need to book?

We don't take bookings for groups smaller than 8 people. We operate on a first come first served basis but you can book a treatment on arrival for later the same day. For group bookings, please email us.

Is it safe?

Of course. This organic treatment is completely safe. The water is continually circulated, filtered and sterilised. The treatment may not be suitable everyone and we'll ask you a few questions before we start your treatment.

What's the minimum age?

There is no minimum age, as long as your feet can reach the tanks then you will be able to have the treatment. Children should get parental consent before partaking. Children 10 and under will need a parent or guardian with them during the treatment.

What are the benefits?

As well as helping to remove dry, dead and unhealthy skin, the fish release an enzyme called dithranol which has great healing properties. Blood flow is also increased during the treatment and the fish can stimulate pressure points on the feet linked to relaxation and regulation of the nervous system.

Can I catch anything?

No. The fish cannot transfer any diseases to humans. You will also be asked to rinse your feet in an individual foot bath prior to your treatment.

I've recently had a cosmetic treatment...

There are certain nail and skin products that could harm the fish, for example nail polish applied in the last 24 hours and recently applied artificial tanning products. In these cases you will not be eligible for treatments.
