FAQs

This section really will answer most of your questions, if you can't find what you're looking for, you can contact us here.

How long does one session last?

One session, door to score, lasts approximately 25-30 minutes. This consists of your pre-game briefing/instruction, kitting-up, a 15 minute game and time to collect (and compare!) your scorecards and check out your Zappix photos at the end of your game. We mainly start sessions every 20 minutes as you don't need a second briefing on the same day.

Therefore, as a rough guide, a Mini-Mission will take 25-30mins, a Mega-Mission will take 45-50mins and an Epic-Mission will take around 1hr20mins - to allow for a break between the second and third game. Game start times are slightly more spaced out on weekday daytimes, so missions may take a little longer.
Although you can just turn up and play, we cannot guarantee places unless you pre-book. Unfortunately we cannot take provisional bookings. We ask all players to arrive at least 10 minutes before their start time - to keep things running smoothly games must start on time. Birthday parties must be booked at least 7 days in advance.
Our arena accommodates a maximum of 33 players per game (30 at Brighton). This can be played as a team game (3 teams of 11 or 3 teams of 10 at Brighton) or a solo game (all against all). Although you need a minimum of two players to play, if you were thinking of coming along by yourself we will try to fit you in with other groups.
Sensible footwear - eg. no high heeled shoes. Apart from that, dark clothes are better - but don't tell your friends! We use ultra-violet light so anything white will make you a glowing target!
All games are monitored by a 'marshal' who patrols the arena to ensure players obey our simple rules and to help anyone requiring assistance. We use very low powered lasers and a small amount of theatrical smoke - both of which are harmless. We consider LaserZone to be a low risk physical game but as such there are inherent risks always associated with physical activity and having fun together. These include being exposed to moderate physical activity, tripping, falling and bumping into fixed objects and other players. LaserZone has taken every reasonable step to control these risks through design, maintenance and operation of the facility but due to the nature of the game and any the nature of physical activity it is impossible to eliminate such risks completely.
Depending on how busy we are at the time, you may be playing with other groups. It is also quite common for players of all ages to play together. It is possible to book exclusive use of the arena – speak to one of the team for further information.

To book a LaserZone party you need to bring at least 6 people. You can have a maximum of 2 'guests of honour' in each party.

Approximate times from start to finish:

Basic Party: 1hr
Ultra or Galactic Parties: 1.5hrs
Ultra Plus or Galactic Plus Parties: 2hrs

Times are estimated and depend on how long the guests take to eat their party food.
Yes! If you have more than ten people and you want to play outside our normal times, we can open at any time, day or night. Ask a supervisor for more information.

If you have never played before we will be more than happy to give you a free guided tour. Likewise, if you are a parent looking after a birthday party we can take you inside the arena to observe the game. Alternatively you can wait in our reception area where you can purchase a selection of hot (we serve real ground bean coffee) and cold drinks and watch the scores on our live score-screen and see live player photos on our Zappix screen.

We accept all major credit/debit card types other than American Express. You can pay by cash or credit/debit card when booking in person. You can also pay by business cheque with proof of address and authority to sign. Following the withdrawal of the cheque guarantee scheme, cheques can only be accepted as pre-payments or deposits provided they are received at least 14 days before the booked date. Payment by personal cheque for bookings on the day can no longer be accepted.

LaserZone is suitable for children aged 6 and above. Some younger players may be comfortable with the LaserZone environment and big enough to carry the pack and phaser - it depends entirely on the child. Children aged 5 can only play with parent/guardian supervision and at the discretion of the Duty Supervisor. If you are unsure of the suitability for your child, we would be more than happy to give you a tour of the facility to help you decide. LaserZone is not suitable for children aged 4 and under. There is no maximum age for players.  We cater for families, corporate entertainment, stag & hen parties and more.

For birthday parties we recommend that the birthday child is turning 7 as a minimum. This is to ensure the guests are at least 6.
Wheelchair users can play LaserZone and use most of the other facilities - the reception areas, briefing rooms and kit-up rooms are wheelchair accessible. Door widths are such that they can accommodate wheelchairs and there is a lowered section on each of our service counters. There are certain restrictions at each location, please refer to the Wheelchairs, Access & DDA Statement for further information

You should not play LaserZone if you have a pacemaker. The electronic vests have a radio transceiver which could potentially interfere with your pacemaker. Some pacemakers are certified safe to use with laser tag equipment. You may want to check with the manufacturer.

You should not play LaserZone if you are pregnant. Whilst there is no known risk posed by the electronic vests or lasers, LaserZone is a physical activity and there is a risk of being bumped into or tripping in the low lighting inside the playing arena.

Unfortunately we cannot give medical advice, however we can provide some information to help you decide if LaserZone is suitable for you. LaserZone is a fairly active game in a unique and stimulating environment. It is fairly dark, there's artificial smoke and music. We're told that some kinds of epilepsy can be triggered by stress and psychological triggers so participants with epilepsy need to be aware of this. With regards to the small number of people with photosensitive epilepsy, we do not use strobes in our arenas, they are lit by static UV lights. However, the packs do have low powered flashing LEDs on them and they fire an LED laser. Although the lasers are set to only fire at 2.5 shots per second, there is of course a possibility that the flash rate could be higher if a number of players are shooting at the same time. If you are in any doubt as to whether LaserZone is suitable, please seek further professional medical advice.

Unfortunately we cannot give medical advice, however we can provide some information to help you decide if LaserZone is suitable for you. LaserZone is a fairly active game in a unique and stimulating environment. Physical activity of any kind can be a trigger for asthma, so players must be aware of this and comfortable that playing LaserZone is safe and suitable for them. We also use a small amount of artificial smoke so that the laser beams are visible in the arena. The artificial smoke is produced from food/high grade glycols. If you suffer from (that you are aware of) any medical condition that affects your respiratory system (e.g. asthma) there is a possibility that the artificial smoke may agitate this condition.

Artificial smoke can remove moisture from the air. Symptoms of over-exposure to the artificial smoke will possibly include: dry mouth, dry throat and/or dry eyes. If you feel any of these effects please alert a member of staff, exit the arena, seek fresh air and sip water.

If you are in any doubt as to whether LaserZone is suitable, please seek further professional medical advice.
We recommend that you do not play LaserZone if you are wearing a plaster cast. LaserZone is a physical activity in a unique low-lit environment in which there is a risk of a cast being knocked or bumped.

Zappix is LaserZone’s in-game photobooth. Strike a pose… and ZAP for your chance to be featured on LaserZone’s social media. You can also purchase your photo as a keyring, framed photo, fridge magnet or snow-globe at Mission Control.
